Help Keep Cary Beautiful – Community Clean-Up Day

The Village of Cary invites residents to mark your calendar for Community Clean-Up Day on Saturday, June 6. Volunteers will meet at 8:30 a.m. at Alfresco Alley on Spring St. to receive clean-up assignments and supplies. Individuals and groups are welcome to participate in this community effort to help keep Cary looking its best. Home of the Sparrow (HOS) will host its inaugural Hope for Children Walk on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at its headquarters in Woodstock. This family-friendly fundraising event brings the community together to raise awareness and critical support for women, children, and individuals experiencing homelessness across McHenry County and beyond.

The event centers on a fun fair and a one-mile walk, with each lap representing stages of the journey from homelessness to stability. Through peer-to-peer fundraising, participants are encouraged to rally support from friends, family, coworkers, and local organizations to benefit HOS programs.

The day begins with registration at 10:00 a.m., followed by the walk at 11:00 a.m. A celebratory afterparty will run until 2:00 p.m., featuring live music, food trucks, raffle baskets, and activities for children and families.

“Last fiscal year, Home of the Sparrow provided more than 65,000 nights of shelter, and over half of those served were children,” said Holly Dorn, Director of Development. “This event was inspired by that need. Every step and every dollar raised helps provide safe housing, stability, and hope.”

Proceeds directly support HOS services, including transitional shelter, permanent supportive housing, rental assistance, outreach, and case management.

Zephyrs Summer Running Program is a summer training program designed for middle school runners who want to prepare for the upcoming fall cross country season. The program meets three mornings per week over the course of nine weeks and focuses on building fitness, confidence, and a love for running. 

Education is a key component of the program. Athletes will learn proper running technique, strength and speed development, injury prevention, teamwork, and other skills that support long-term success in the sport. 

The program is led by Coach Megan of Sloan Coaching, who provides expert guidance in a fun, supportive team environment. 

The program runs Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 7:30-9:00am starting Monday, June 8th through Friday, August 7th. Locations rotate through Lundahl Middle School, Veteran’s Acres and Lippold Park.

Samantha Chiappone is a stand-up comic and single mom who’s been making people laugh, sometimes on purpose, for the past two years. She’s performed at Zanies, the Raue Center, and anywhere else willing to hand her a mic. Her comedy is honest, fast, and just a little too relatable.

A Crystal Lake “townie”, Brynn takes the grist of life and makes it funny so we don’t all go mad. Enjoy! Recently featured in a showcase at Zanies, Tricia Babischkin is a Southerner who now lives in the Midwest, exploring how to navigate her married life, aging semi-gracefully, and her dog’s DNA tests.

Bill Gorgo’s career in entertainment has been a regular buffet. While writing and performing stand-up, his first love, he has written 3 plays and a television series, acted in half a dozen stage productions, is an award-winning storyteller, has been active in talk radio, and taught dramatic arts to grades 6-12. Currently, he teaches standup classes and mentors several young comedians. And be sure to ask him about being part of creating a terrific cookbook, “Life Beyond Takeout.”

Get ready for an evening of laughs, friendly competition, and summer fun at Sunshine & Shenanigans! Held at Lippold Park Family Golf Center, this spirited 18-hole mini golf outing brings our community together for lighthearted play with a meaningful purpose.

Whether you're teaming up with family, gathering friends, or bringing your coworkers along, this event offers something for everyone. Enjoy a relaxing summer evening while supporting Senior Care Volunteer Network and helping local older adults age safely and independently.

Join us for a delightful day of free games and activities to celebrate summer with our amazing community. Bring your own picnic lunch or purchase hot dogs, chips, beverages, and beer from our local partners. 

Calling all grade schoolers! If you know a kiddo who enjoys running or is just looking for a fun summer adventure, Kids Run This Town, is a one-month program that gets kids moving, learning, and having a blast before school starts. The program runs throughout August and includes two guided running sessions with Coach Megan of Sloan Coaching, to master running tips and tricks.

Over the month, participants will complete 12 miles with a running buddy (mom, dad, sibling, friend or neighbor) building confidence and stamina. Then, at the Crystal Lake Half Marathon (September 6th), they’ll run their 13th mile, joining the half marathoners to cross the finish line and earn their very own half marathon medal!

Welcome to the Cary Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association, and Cary Police Department’s 2026 National Night Out Event website. This is our 15th year hosting this event in Cary, and this year’s event will be held on Thursday August 6th

The First Responder portion of our event will be held in the lower Police Department parking lot area of the new Cary Municipal Center, located at 755 Industrial Drive. Squad cars, fire trucks, Public Works and Township vehicles will be on display for guests to explore. Have your cameras ready for some candid moments with your family as they sit in the driver seat of a patrol car or fire engine! Meet your community first responders and be sure to stop inside the Municipal Center for a tour of the police department and village hall. There will be a police drone presentation, K9 presentation, LifeNet will be landing a helicopter on site and free popcorn at the police department!

Should you have any questions or concerns on the date of the event, please feel free to speak with one of our Citizen Police Academy Alumni volunteer staff members, who will be wearing Citizen Police Academy shirts and reflective safety vests.
