DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, June 2            Scholarship Queen Pageant            Miss Cary and Miss Fox River Grove            Cary Grove High School\, 2208 Three Oaks Rd.\, 7 p.m.            Tickets available at the door\n\nSeveral local high school girls have signed up to compete in the 2007 Miss Cary and Miss Fox River Grove Rising Stars Queen Pageant.  The event will be held on Saturday\, June 2 at 7 p.m. at Cary-Grove High School.  The event is sponsored by True Value Manufacturing and Wickstrom Ford Lincoln Mercury.  Winners of the Pageant receive business scholarships from the Chamber and various other prizes. Miss Cary contestants registered to day include Courtney Raupp\, sponsored by Cary Travel Express\; Ashley Etters\, sponsored by  Jim Dawe Insurance Agency\; Stephanie Schmidt\, sponsored by Kojak's Restaurant\;  Jessica Campos\, sponsored by Modern Wave Hair Salon\; Jessica Ann Kopidlansky\, sponored by  Realty Executives on the Move.  Miss Fox River Grove contestants to date include Amanda Papinchock\, sponsored by Dr. Woods Guitar Emporium\, Megan Resseguie\, sponsored by Stone Hill Center\, Stephanie Sweeney\, sponsored by Wickstrom Ford Lincoln Mercury and Arielle Borre sponsored by Sage Products\, Inc. Open registration for the pageant will continue until April 4.  For information\, call the Chamber office at (847) 639-2800.  The Chamber can find a sponsor for any interested candidate. The process leading up to the Queen Pageant is designed to provide the contestants with valuable communication and speaking skills and knowledge about local business.  Several of the contestants worked the March 3 Community Showcase\, selling raffle tickets for a trip from Cary Travel Express.   They will be formally introduced to the business community and area leaders at a Chamber mixer sponsored by the Lighthouse Networking group and Coldwell Banker Primus Realty.  They get involved in community service\, visit with local seniors and make meals for the homeless.  They are also trained in speaking and presentation skills. The contestants meet many people in the community\, form new friendships and have lots of fun. The evening of the Pageant the contestants will participate in an evening gown and bathing suit competition\, and will be interviewed by the pageant judges\, and give a presentation on their business sponsor.  The interview and presentation are weighted most heavily in the judging process. The June 2 Pageant will be the last official duty of  2006 Miss Cary\, Susan Powalowski\, and 2006 Miss Fox River Grove\, Jill Smialek. The Pageant Committee consists of Meredith McCoy\, a former Miss Cary 2003 Miss McHenry County 2003 and a current Miss Illinois 2007 contestant\; Mary McDonald\, ReMax Unlimited Northwest\, The Mary Opfer Team\; Jan Cappi\, Mary Kay Cosmetics\;  Jackie Carlson\, Periwinkle Florals\; Ginny Illich\, Photography by Ginny Illich\; and Kim Allen\, Merle Norman Cosmetics.
