You’ve heard the effects smoking has on your lungs, but what about your heart? Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States and if you are a cigarette smoker, you are 2-4 times more likely to develop heart disease than a nonsmoker. Join Dr. Douglas Tomasian, director of cardiology at Centegra Health System, as he discusses how smoking affects your heart health and the heart health of those around you. Tomasian will also discuss screenings to determine your current heart health and the benefits of quitting. The McHenry County Department of Health also will provide information about its Freedom From Smoking program. In addition, eligible attendees can schedule a free CT Lung Screening, a cost savings of $299!
