Several local high school girls have signed up to compete in the 2009 Miss Cary and Miss Fox River Grove Rising Stars Business Scholarship Pageant. The event will be held on Saturday, May 23 at 7 p.m. at Cary-Grove High School. The event is sponsored by True Value Manufacturing and Wickstrom Auto Group. Winners of the Pageant receive business scholarships from the Chamber and various other prizes.
Tickets for the Business Scholarship Pageant are now on sale. The cost is $8 for adults and $5 for seniors and students. They can be purchased at the Cary Grove Area Chamber of Commerce office at 27 E. Main Street, or through one of the contestants.
Seven girls are vying for the title of 2009 Miss Cary including Jessie Gronset sponsored by Sage Products, Inc., Gabrielle Perez sponsored by Julie Monacella Photography, Abbe Wienckowski sponsored by the Cary Grove Performing Arts Centre, Alizabeth Loch sponsored by Dolce Day Spa, Melissa Ritthaler sponsored by Cary Travel Express, Laura Mintert sponsored by Wickstrom Auto Group and Maggie Teper sponsored by Johnson Eye Care. Three young women are competing for the 2009 Miss FRG title including Samantha Adams sponsored by Brunch Café, Lizzy Dyrek sponsored by I.S.O. The process leading up to the Queen Pageant is designed to provide the contestants with valuable communication and speaking skills and knowledge about local business. The contestants worked the February 28 Community Showcase. They will be formally introduced to the business community and area leaders at a Chamber mixer sponsored by the Harris Cary on Thursday, April 16. They get involved in community service, work at a local soup kitchen, and are trained in speaking and presentation skills.
