What if that's all it would take to ensure that homeless men, women and children would be provided with a warm, safe place to sleep each night?
On April 30 community members have the opportunity to participate in the 2nd Annual SleepOut for Shelter event. The event is a county-wide, educational experience and fundraiser perfect for families, businesses and community organizations to get involved. Participants will spend the night outside in tents, boxes or cars to raise awareness and money for McHenry County PADS.
The night will kick off with a one hour rally or awareness vigil at one of two locations Petersen Park in McHenry or Immanuel Lutheran School in Crystal Lake. The sites will remain open for overnight stays, however, participants can sleep out anywhere?a place of business, church, car, backyard, etc.
Over ninety-one cents of every dollar raised will go directly to McHenry County PADS, the largest provider of shelter and services to individuals who have found themselves facing homelessness. Through the collection of pledges for spending one night...eight hours outside the comfort of their home, participants will help these individuals in their search for shelter and a new beginning.
