Information Technology (IT) Support Technician

Position: Information Technology Support Technician 
Reports to: Managing Director 
Location: McHenry County IL 
Type Work: Part Time/Full Time   


Position Summary: In this role, the support technician position will provide quick and effective assistance with information technology systems both remote and on-site to all StratusComm clients. This may include support for procedural, hardware, software, network and operating system issues for their technologies, desktops, laptops, wireless devices, servers and related equipment. 

 
Job Responsibilities: 

  • Provide IT support to the clients by monitoring all support ticket queues and troubleshooting common information technology issues

  • Physical on-site visits to clients (in a geographic area) 

  • Respond to service desk tickets promptly and provide end-user service support as needed (ownership of the ticket until closure). 

  • Coordinate and provide communication to the end-users about their incidents or service requests. 

  • Network wiring including wireless networks, low voltage cabling, termination, etc. 

  • Propose the installation procedures for the local client hardware and software and follow the guidelines. 

  • Document procedures and troubleshooting information in our knowledge base/service catalog. 

  • Work closely with clients and other technicians to obtain information, provide support, provide technical advice, and collaborate on issues and approaches to network issues and projects. 

  • Provide technical feedback and assistance to clients and other technicians as needed 

  • Act as a representative of IT from StratusComm and be the main point of contact for select clients as needed 
     

Qualifications/Requirements: 

  • 1-2 years of information technology experience desired 

  • Proficient in Windows Client operating systems 

  • Good knowledge of Computers, Printers, and Thin Clients 

  • Good knowledge of Network Protocol: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, Firewall 

  • Networking/Switching hardware: VLANS, Routing, Switching 

  • Proficient in MS Exchange, MS Office 365 

  • Excellent troubleshooting, attention to detail, organization, communication and customer service skills 

  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to efficiently multitask, adapt and stay calm under pressure to any changes or client emergencies 

  • A strong sense of urgency, commitment to results, and the ability to be cooperative 

  • Ability to work independently 

  • Must be able to drive and have your own car
