About Us

Black Diamond Plumbing & Mechanical, Inc. was established to serve McHenry County on June 1, 1999. Rick Sperando and Scott Underwood came together to found a plumbing and sewer company that would someday offer electrical and HVAC services as well. Our intent was to build a business that didn’t stop at just one thing, but instead offered our clients a broad range of commercial and residential services from one trusted provider.

Plumbing and Sewer Services
We began with our Plumbing and Sewer Services Division. We did everything from fixing leaky faucets and unclogging toilets to repairing underground sewer lines.

Electrical Services
As we prospered, our vision started to come together in 2006 when we added our Electrical Services Division. This service was well-received by both new and existing customers. And because we had more to offer, business skyrocketed over the next several years.

HVAC Services
In 2009, we began our Heating & Air Conditioning Division and became a Comfort 24-7 Trusted Dealer. In 2011, we acquired Ron’s Heating and Air Conditioning of Gilberts, IL, and continued growing in 2012 with the acquisition of Progressive Heating in Wauconda, IL. Most recently, in April 2014, Black Diamond expanded it’s family by acquiring Axberg Heating in Rockford, IL. Our customers now rely on us to not only keep their plumbing and sewer systems in good repair and to provide professional electrical services, but also to keep them comfortable indoors year-round, especially during the cold Illinois winters.
