Cary-Grove Area Chamber of Commerce Celebrates Advia Credit Union's Generosity with Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at Cary Jr. High and Deer Path Elementary School

[CARY, IL — April 18, 2024] — The Cary-Grove Area Chamber of Commerce proudly commemorated Advia Credit Union's generous donation of electronic signs to Cary Consolidated School District 26 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony held at Cary Jr. High and Deer Path Elementary School.

The ceremony, held on April 18, 2024, celebrated the installation of electronic signs at both schools, which were made possible through the gracious donation by Advia Credit Union. These signs, originally used by Golden Eagle Community Banks in McHenry County, found a new home in the Cary community after Advia's acquisition of Golden Eagle in 2019.

Deer Path Elementary School, one of the five schools within Cary Consolidated School District 26, was in the midst of a fundraising campaign to purchase an electronic sign when Advia stepped in to offer their support. Recognizing the opportunity to contribute to the local community, Advia generously donated the electronic signs to the school district, saving them thousands of dollars.

While the district did pay for expenses for the infrastructure surrounding the signs and their installation, the donation of the electronic sign components by Advia Credit Union significantly reduced the financial burden for the district.

"We are incredibly grateful to Advia Credit Union for their generous donation," said Dr. Brandon White, Superintendent of Cary Consolidated School District 26. "Their contribution not only saved the district significant funds but also enabled us to expedite the installation and infrastructure necessary to support the signs."

The first sign was installed at Deer Path Elementary School for the 2022 school year, enhancing communication and visibility for the school community. In a unique and innovative approach to encouraging positive behavior, Deer Path Elementary School implements a reward system known as "Deer Path Dollars." Students earn Deer Path Dollars for demonstrating exemplary behavior and can exchange them for various rewards. Among the most coveted rewards is the opportunity to have a custom message displayed on the electronic sign for two weeks. Students enthusiastically select personalized messages such as "Jake likes his new puppy" or "Eva likes to play basketball," fostering a sense of pride and recognition within the school community.

"We are thrilled to see the positive impact of Advia's donation on our schools," remarked Thom Gippert, Principal of Deer Path Elementary School. "The sign not only enhances our school's appearance and provides valuable information, it positively influences our students."

The ribbon-cutting ceremony, attended by members of the Cary-Grove Area Chamber of Commerce, school district officials, Advia Credit Union representatives, and students, symbolized the collaborative spirit and commitment to education and community development in the Cary area.

"Advia Credit Union is proud to support the Cary community and its schools," said Cali Draffkorn, Regional Director of Advia Credit Union for Wisconsin and Illinois. "Our mission is to provide financial advantages for our members and the communities we serve. We believe in investing in the future of our youth and are honored to contribute to their educational journey through initiatives like this."

The Cary-Grove Area Chamber of Commerce extends its heartfelt appreciation to Advia Credit Union for their generous donation and continued commitment to making a positive impact in the Cary-Grove community.
