Mercyhealth Welcomes New Interventional Cardiologist
CRYSTAL LAKE, Illinois and JANESVILLE, Wisconsin—Mercyhealth is pleased to welcome Rehmat Sheikh, MD, board certified interventional cardiologist, to Mercyhealth Heart and Vascular Center, 875 S. Route 31, Crystal Lake and Mercyhealth Heart and Vascular Center, 1000 Mineral
Point Ave., Janesville.
Dr. Sheikh works toward strong collaboration with his patients. “I believe in evidence-based, personalized medicine, treating each person with the same care and concern I would offer my own family,” he said. “I want my patients to feel heard, understood and supported. I strive to educate and
empower them so they can take an active role in their health.” After earning his medical degree at Government Medical College, Srinagar, India, Dr. Sheikh completed his residency at Chicago Medical School/RFUMS, Chicago, where he served as chief resident. He then completed a cardiovascular disease fellowship and an interventional cardiology fellowship, also at Chicago Medical School/RFUMS. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine with added qualifications in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology.
Dr. Sheikh’s special interests include:
- Interventional cardiology
- Peripheral vascular disease
- Minimally invasive techniques, such as transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR)
- Evidence-based approaches to achieve the best and safest outcomes.
