McHenry County Salvation Army to Host Red Kettle Kick Off Event
CHAMBER MEMBERS AND BUSINESS OWNERS INVITED TO JOIN VOLUNTEERS, DONORS, AND
COMMUNITY PARTNER TO KICK OFF THE ICON SALVATION ARMY RED KETTLE CHRISTMAS CAMPAIGN
CRYSTAL LAKE (November 1, 2023)
The Salvation Army of Crystal Lake, which serves McHenry
County and surrounding communities, will host a free kick-off event to introduce this year’s Love
Beyond Christmas Campaign and to roll out its iconic Red Kettles. McHenry chamber members and
business owners are invited to join The Salvation Army for the event on November 14, 2023, from
5:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. at the Boulder Ridge Country Club, Lake of the Hills, IL.
At the event, attendees will learn how their volunteerism and financial support will provide love and
hope to thousands of local residents who need it most at Christmastime and year-round. Guests are
encouraged to bring an unwrapped gift that will be distributed to local children as part of The
Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Campaign, which provided 1943 toys to 263 local children last year.
Why is the event and campaign important? While the Christmas season is a joyous time for many,
the impact of inflation and skyrocketing food and housing prices have thousands of local families and
individuals struggling to put warm and healthy meals on the table, worried about how they can put
gifts under the tree for their children, and how they can afford to stay in their homes as harsh winter
temperatures are approaching.
Volunteers’ efforts and the generous donations made at Red Kettles will help The Salvation Army of
Crystal Lake meet the critical immediate and future needs of thousands of people in the local
community. Last year, these funds helped the Salvation Army of Crystal Lake Corps provide 7,701
instances of emergency assistance including rent and utility assistance, 2886 bags of groceries, and
1943 Christmas gifts. All funds raised through the program will stay in the local community.
To meet the anticipated needs of the community year, The Salvation Army Crystal Lake Corps has
set a campaign fundraising goal of $234,000. All funds raised through the campaign will stay here in
the local community. Community members who would like to join the effort by ringing at a local Red
Kettle can visit registertoring.com. Finacial gifts to the campaign can be made at salarmycl.org.
