BARRINGTON CHILDREN’S CHOIR JOINS ENCORE MUSIC ACADEMY
The Encore Music Academy Board of Directors announced that as of July 1, 2026,
Barrington Children’s Choir will be joining the Encore Music Academy family of
programs.
Barrington Children’s Choir (BCC) is celebrating its 40 th Anniversary Season and is
under the artistic leadership of Joyce Haqq. BCC has a rich history woven deeply
into the fabric of the Barrington community and strives to unite the purity and
simplicity of children’s voices with the finest traditional and contemporary choral
music. Encore and BCC both share a vision to bring choral music to all ages and
will work together to further that vision into the future. BCC will continue to operate
out of its Barrington location on Tuesday evenings with the same artistic and
support staff.
With a strong shared vision and mission for the best practices in music
performance and education, careful planning and a deep passion for their
students, families and communities, this collaborative partnership brings
unparalleled opportunities to our communities under one roof.
This is a significant, yet exciting change for Encore, BCC and their families.
Encore’s Board of Directors, BCC, faculty, and staff are committed to empowering
all to explore, create and imagine all the endless possibilities through music,
building communities of passionate and compassionate musicians while serving
our greater community through the arts.
Exciting collaborative concerts are planned in 2026-2027 between BCC, Encore
Youth Choir and Voices in Harmony.
Encore Music Academy is located in downtown Crystal Lake at 87 N. Williams
Street. Programs include Music Together® early childhood classes, Encore Youth
Choir, Encore Youth Orchestra, Voices in Harmony adult choir, Joyful Noise All
Abilities Choir, music therapy services, chamber ensembles, summer music
camps and musicals, outreach programs, and private music lessons for students
of all ages throughout the region.
