8th Annual Crystal Lake Aquathon Draws 160 Athletes for Another Successful Splash and Dash

Crystal Lake, IL – On Sunday, July 20th, the shores of Three Oaks Recreation Center in Crystal Lake once again came alive as approximately 160 athletes participated in the 8th Annual Crystal Lake Aquathon, a unique endurance event combining swimming and running in the heart of the community. The event brought together individuals of all fitness levels, from first-timers to seasoned competitors, each testing their endurance across a challenging yet scenic course.

This year’s event was made possible thanks to the incredible support of all our sponsors including premier sponsor, Zanck, Coen, Wright, & Saladin - Attorneys at Law. All the contributions played a vital role in ensuring a safe, fun, and memorable experience for all involved.

“The energy on race day was truly inspiring,” said Denise Smith, Race Director of the Crystal Lake Aquathon and Owner of Smith Physical Therapy+. “We’re proud to see the community show up year after year to support one another and take on this unique fitness challenge. It’s a reminder of the power of movement, teamwork, and local pride.”

Participants left with race swag, personal victories, and memories to last until next year’s event. Proceeds from the Aquathon support Girls on the Run of Northwest Illinois.
