Mercyhealth welcomes endocrinologist

CRYSTAL LAKE and WOODSTOCK, Illinois—Mercyhealth is pleased to welcome Shazia Azmat,
MD, board certified endocrinologist, to Mercyhealth Hospital and Physician Clinic–Crystal Lake, 875
S. Route 31, Crystal Lake, and Mercyhealth Woodstock, 2000 Lake Ave., Woodstock..
Dr. Azmat works toward strong collaboration with her patients. “My philosophy of care is to have a
patient-centered approach grounded in evidence-based guidelines,” she said. “I aim to treat each person
as a whole rather than just a particular disease or symptom.”
After earning her medical degree at Services Institute of Medical Sciences, Pakistan, Dr. Azmat served
an internal medicine residency at St. Joseph Hospital, Chicago. She then completed an endocrinology
fellowship at Rosalind Franklin University, North Chicago, IL. She is certified by the American Board
of Internal Medicine and American Board of Obesity Medicine.
