CARY, IL., October 2025 – The Friends of the Cary Area Library (FOCAL) is excited to announce its Fall Used Book Sale, offering the community a chance to discover great reads at bargain prices while supporting vital library services and programs along with college scholarships.
The sale will be held from Friday, October 17 – Sunday, October 19; hours are Friday from 1 - 4 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., and Sunday from 1 – 4 p.m. The address is 1606 Three Oaks Road, Cary. Patrons can find books and AV bargains for all ages. Sunday is fill-a-bag for $5 per bag provided. There are no buyer restrictions. Special pricing for teachers with current school I.D., except on Sunday during the Bag Sale. Contact the chairperson during the sale if interested in books after the sale. Cash and checks are only accepted for payment.

Drop off your gently used book and audio-visual donations at the Cary Area Public Library. Donations are tax-deductible, and forms are available upon request at the time of your donation. Encyclopedias and reference sets, magazines, yearbooks, textbooks over 5 years old, VHS, and cassette tapes are not accepted. The Used Book Sale is made possible through the generosity of community members who donate books and the dedication of volunteers who help organize the event. By shopping at the used book sale, you are not only finding your next favorite book, but you are also helping fund programs, events, and resources that benefit our entire community. Highlights of the event include:

About the Friends of the Cary Area Library (FOCAL)
FOCAL is a group of community volunteers committed to supporting the library through fundraising efforts, contributing to library programs, and promoting public awareness of the library and its services.
FOCAL has contributed $170,887 to the library since the volunteer group began in the mid-1990s. They have funded special projects, equipment, and programs that are outside of the library’s budget such as the new Teen Area furniture, a large format printer, summer reading finishing prizes, and much more.
