Rockin' The Spectrum Celebrates New Location with Ribbon Cutting
[Crystal Lake, October 17, 2024] – On October 17, 2024, Rockin' The Spectrum, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing support, resources, and advocacy for families and individuals with special needs, proudly celebrated the grand opening of their new location at 829 S Virginia Road in Crystal Lake, with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The event was co-hosted by the Cary-Grove Area Chamber of Commerce, Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce, and Chain O' Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce.
Founded in 2019, Rockin' The Spectrum was created to provide families with the support and services that were lacking in the community. "No one in this Rockin' Family fights alone" is the driving force behind the organization’s mission to create a brighter future for families impacted by autism and other developmental disorders. Rockin’ the Spectrum helps all ages and does not turn away behaviors.
Rockin' The Spectrum's new facility is designed to meet the unique needs of special needs individuals of all ages. With bright, welcoming spaces, it offers an environment where families can feel safe, supported, and included. They are accepting registrations for their day program, which serves individuals 18+. Their clubhouse is for all ages, providing a space where they can be themselves and receive the resources they need.
In addition to their programs, Rockin' The Spectrum has partnered with Volo Museum's Jurassic Gardens for "Sensory Sunday." Every third Sunday of the month, Volo will keep their 15,000 sq. ft. animatronic dinosaur park quiet and still from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., providing a sensory-friendly experience. A special sensory tent will also be available, featuring engaging sensory activities for visitors.
Lizzy Lynn, Vice President of Rockin’ The Spectrum and who played a key role in securing the new location, shared her excitement about the new space: "We are beyond thrilled to open this beautiful facility and continue our mission to help the whole family and all people of all ages with special needs.”
