The process leading up to the Queen Pageant is designed to provide the contestants with valuable communication and speaking skills and knowledge about local business. Several of the contestants worked the March 1 Community Showcase, selling raffle tickets for a weekend getaway for two from Cary Travel Express. They were formally introduced to the business community and area leaders at a Chamber mixer sponsored by the Merlin 200,000 Mile Shop on Thursday, March 20. They get involved in community service, make meals for the homeless, and are trained in speaking and presentation skills. The contestants meet many people in the community, form new friendships and have lots of fun.
The evening of the Pageant the contestants will participate in an evening gown and bathing suit competition, will be interviewed by the pageant judges and give a presentation on their business sponsor. The interview and presentation are weighted most heavily in the judging process.
The May 24 Pageant will be the last official duty of 2007 Miss Cary, Stephanie Schmidt, and 2007 Miss Fox River Grove, Megan Resseguie.
